![]() I’ve had my RW4 real week motor apart to replace the hall sensors on the motor, there’s not much going on in there, some coils, and some Hall effect sensors, what specifically is telling you that the fault lies in the mechanism of the motor?Īfter repairing the wheel, I had my 2nd display/controller clonk out, rad agreed to send me a another replacement, and I paid for another one to have a spare. MUCH more solid, more maneuverable, much more fun. Now I know more I’d much prefer a moped style eBike. How Rad cheaped out on brake oil is behind me, LBS had never seen it. Hydraulic brakes needed bleeding after just 400miles, and the oil had gone to a shitty brown, bike shop said it’s just cheap ass oil, they usually see it on entry level, cheap hydraulic brakes. The stem/header has a front/back looseness that can’t be adjusted away, neither I nor my LBS could get that fixed. Then folks shared how to crack it open and replace what’s usually just a blown $.50 fuse, so I have a second good battery. Ironically when it happened to me, I saved the old battery hoping I could have it professionally refurbished in the cheap. So bad when folks have a battery go “bad”, as in just a blown fuse Rad sends out a brand new battery under warranty. The battery has a damn INTERNAL fuse, most idiotic design ever. If they follow-up in a meaningful way I'll update below. I'll express my dismay similar to what I've shared here with Rad. Fortunately, the bike is still operationally when powered by me. It'll be awhile before I save up enough to move forward with this repair. Maybe asking if I should go ahead with the motor repair is rhetorical, it's not like I can afford a replacement bike. ![]() but to have an e-bike that doesn't have functioning motor? Funny thing is, I haven't actually purchased the replacement yet because the experience left such a bad taste in my mouth that even then I was wondering if it was worth the $50 to spend. The kickstand broke 13 days after the warranty period, and I had to really pressure them to at least offer me 50% off the replacement cost. I've already replaced the springs on the kickstand, the kickstand itself, brake caliper, bottom bracket, and the paint has been chipping and wearing away since it was less than a month old, plus the brakes are intolerably loud depending on the weather. I feel the quality of the materials is so poor, plus the fact that they don't even have enough faith in their own parts to have a warranty, that I'm fearful of what will go next. So, now I'm questioning if this expense is worth it. And get this, there is NO WARRANTY on replacement parts. The cost of replacement, plus the labour will probably amount to about $500. It's outside the warrantee period, so I'll have to foot the bill myself. I don't know what happened, but the motor simply stopped functioning. My RadWagon 4 has less clocked than 5000KM, and needs to have the entire rear wheel/motor replaced.
